Originally started as the Distance Learning Centre by Strathmore University in October 1992. It offered courses in accountancy to students who were unable to attend lectures at the university owing to professional or social commitments, with the possibility of drawing from the expertise of the lecturers of the School of Accountancy, without having to attend long-term courses.

It is now involved in the publishing of CPA books and the distribution of ACCA materials to colleges and bookshops and is managed by SRCC LTD on behalf of Strathmore University.
